Hangouts Outage? Try WebRTC and JitMeet

With Hangouts being offline right now, it might be a good opportunity to catch up on some of the exciting, free and open alternatives:

• the Jitsi team have produced a pure browser-based video conferencing solution called JitMeet
• Debian Developers have access to the rtc.debian.org SIP service which can receive calls from non-DD friends through freePhoneBox.net
• the DruCall project for Drupal makes it really easy to host your own WebRTC service in a Drupal site
• JSCommunicator lets just about any other site go WebRTC with little more than some cut and paste
